# Hidden Processes _Hidden processes_ is an exploration of the oft unseen and overlooked biological patterns belowground. The piece features 27 relief prints celebrating soil biodiversity. Each design is modeled after an organism living within the soil environment and printed using soil-based watercolor paint. The gradient in colors across the piece represent horizons within a soil profile that emerge from interactions between climate, life, rocks, topography, and time. I [live streamed](https://www.twitch.tv/wonderofsoil) the making of *Hidden processes* in entirety - from carving the stamps to hand-pulling the final print. ![hidden-processes |500](https://www.dropbox.com/s/v8zpisw9g04vkqk/pattern-process-selfi.jpg?raw=1) Hidden processes was on display at the Entomological Society of America Joint Annual Meeting in Vancouver, BC. The conference, *Entomology as Inspiration: Insects through Art, Science, and Culture*, hosted a juried art exhibition November 13-16, 2022. I also gave a talk entitled *Artistic avenues to explore and celebrate soil habitats and biodiversity* during the invited symposium **What Lies Beneath? The art and science of soil arthropods**. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9J867oKHBu4" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
